Giants get Fontenot from Cubs; put Renteria on DL

The Giants acquired Mike Fontenot from Chicago in exchange for minor league outfielder Evan Crawford.

Renteria aggravated a left bicep strain during Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Cubs. It's his third trip to the DL this season. He is batting .278 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 61 games this year.

The 30-year-old Fontenot has batted .284 with one home run and 20 RBI in 75 games with the Cubs this season. The versatile infielder has made 40 starts this season, including 29 at second base, seven at third base and four at shortstop.

Crawford, who turned 22 last Thursday, has batted .255 with four home runs, 29 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 109 games with Single-A Augusta this season.
