Daylon Magician captures Canadian Trotting Classic

09/17/2011 - Campbellville, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Daylon Magician, driven by Jack Moiseyev, took the lead on the backstretch and went on to win Saturday night's $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic Final at Mohawk Racetrack. Starting from post two the three-year-old trotted the mile in 1:53.

Daylon Magician and Manofmanymissions won last weeks elimination heats for the Classic. Manofmanymissions, with driver David Miller, was the 9-5 favorite for the 10-horse final and Daylon Magician was the 3-1 second choice.

Hambletonian winner Broad Bahn set the early pace with Whiskey Tax racing second and Daylon Magician in third. On the backstretch Daylon Magician moved on the outside to take the lead as Broad Bahn was shuffled back to last.

Moiseyev, better known as Jackie Mo, had his drive in full control of the race and was never really challenged. Daylon Magician posted a two-length victory over Whatever It Takes with Dejarbro finishing third and Manofmanymissions fourth.

"He's just a nice horse, he can race with anybody," Moiseyev said.

Completing the order of finish was Chapter Seven, Imperial Count, Whiskey Tax, Sim Brown, Blue Porsche. Borad Bahn was distanced.

Trained by owner David Lemon, Daylon Magician notched his sixth straight win Saturday and added $500,000 to his bankroll, This year he has won nine of 11 starts for $825,477 and went past the $1 million mark in career earnings. Back in July the colt won the Canadian Breeders Championship.

Daylon Magician returned $8.90, $5.20 and $4.00. Whatever It Takes paid $19.80 and $7.10, and Dejarmbro paid $4.00 to show.
